snow day!

Make that three ice days and one snow day to top it all off! Yes I know the entire country is covered in ice and snow but it becomes a holiday/celebration type ordeal when it happens in Texas. Plus my dogs LOVE the snow. They can’t get enough of it and I can’t seem to understand how their toes and tummies don’t freeze, but then again I’m not a dog… I caught Layla (on the left) and Mr. Blue Mutt in action this morning here in the Dallas snow. Hope everyone is staying warm and having fun this winter 2011!!

Check out last years snow photos (back when Willie was an only child)

travel bug… european puppies

Now, just because a pet photographer goes on vacation doesn’t mean that they have the ability, or should I say strength, to stay away from those sweet puppy dogs – no matter what language they might be speaking! I just couldn’t resist the urge to photograph these few furry friends along the way, some from France as well as some from Spain. It’s so strange that no matter what country you are from you can see a pet owners pride in their own pup. As I photographed each pet I could see their owner’s beaming with a smile from ear to ear! I couldn’t ask for a better “job” :)

before baby

I had the pleasure of meeting the Hamilton family out at White Rock Lake in Dallas to capture their family only a few weeks before it would be changed forever. Changed with the arrival of a beautiful baby girl… non fur-baby that is! This was my first ever Family/dog/couple/maternity session and it was a blast. Now that could have been due to the fact that we had incredible weather, two hillarious pups (Pete & Toby), and a great soon to be mom and dad.

The best part of all – they welcomed baby Adrian right after Christmas and this Friday I am headed to their home to photograph a beautiful newborn baby girl. I can’t WAIT! This will be my first newborn girl to photograph so there will be some pink and of course some sugar and spice and everything nice :)

I like to imagine that these are the faces Pete (the yellow lab) & Toby (the schnauzer) made when they found out they were going to have a little human in the house ;)

I think this is one of my favorites. The sun was setting behind us, bouncing off the lake – literally creating a field of gold!

I am so excited to meet Little Adrian Friday and will post her newborn photos as soon as I can!

We are Still Here!!

I know it’s been a long time since our last post and I must say I am fairly embarrassed …blush. However, just because the blog has been quiet doesn’t mean we have been quiet. In fact Blue Mutt Photography has been running full steam ahead, singing at the top of our lungs. If you can call it singing…

We have been so busy! 11 dogs, 2 cats, 4 Christmas surprises, 5 families, 1 birthday surprise, 2 maternity sessions, 3 toddlers, 1 engagement, and a trip to Europe… whew! And I can’t wait to share all of them with you.

By the way – above is Romo, who I am absolutely in love with. She has thousands of facial expressions! I had no idea one dog could have so many expressions. I actually spit my Diet Dr. Pepper out onto my pristine white apple keyboard while going through her session the first time. But is was well worth it, I can’t wait to show you all of her “moods!”

And on a side note Christmas is 11 days away – yes I said 11. Just wanted to remind everyone that Blue Mutt offers gift certificates in all shapes and sizes, which are perfect for that hard to buy for person in your family and they are just one click away… wink, wink!

scouty-pouty

okay well his name is really just Scout, but everytime I see Scout I can’t help but go up to him and rub his ears while saying Scouty-Pouty with my bottom lip pushed out. Try it – no one’s looking…. See, I told you so :) Scout is a 10 year old dog that lives in my neighborhood and we like to joke that he has a crush on my little Layla. Scouts photoshoot couldn’t have been better. Scout was excited to show me all his tricks and run and play, after which we went inside to get some of those shots that just make you saw awwwe…

I was so extremely happy and almost proud of myself after going through Scouts photo. Why? Well, I feel like the entire gallery really captured the moment: the sun setting, the cool breeze of fall arriving, the excitement from Scout, the goofy-ness in Scout’s personality, the love between Scout and his mom, and the feeling of “home.” That is always my goal with every pet photography session and this one just seems to really capture it all. Let me know what you think… What “feeling” do you get from the photos?
