I am absolutely in love with this photo of newborn baby Graham! He is such a happy baby and this big grin shows it. And his owl hat is just the cutest thing around… I’m sure I let out a squeal when his mom pulled it out! Enjoy the smiles… many, many more to come!

Murray & Lucy

Every now and then I am lucky enough to get to spend an afternoon with a gorgeous cat or two. And that is exactly what Murray and Lucy are for sure! Talk about a change of pace. Photographing two beautiful cats could not be more different than photographing two dogs. The first thing I always tell my cat clients is “The cat is in charge of this session.” Murray and Lucy were definitely in charge of their own session and it couldn’t have turned out better. They were a bit cautious at first, but with a little patience and some loving coaxing they eventually came out of their shells and showed me their curious personalities That is Murray on the left and Lucy on the right!

rosko!

Rosko… Hollywood is calling! I was filled with giddiness when Rosko, a 71 pound basset hound, pulled up with his mom in a bright pink Volkswagen convertible bug. A big entrance matched perfectly by Rosko’s big personality. He was the talk of the park and had many admirers. Everyone was drawn to him as if he was already the star he was born to be. I’ve never been around such a large Basset hound and I am in love with this guy from nose to tail! I even have a new addition to my warm and fuzzy, makes me want to squeal with joy list… you know: puppy kisses, warm chocolate chip cookies, and now Basset Hound paws

Mitchell & Marin

I’ve meet many a dog breed in my years of being a pet photographer and all around animal lover – but it always surprises me to meet a totally new breed that I have never even heard of. Mitchell and Marin are two beautiful Manchester Terriers – a beautiful, sleek, and strong breed that is super athletic and full of life. Marin is the smaller “little sister” of the two and was extremely curious about my camera – her smile is almost contagious. While Mitchell, the more watchful “older brother” was handsome and striking. What a pair these two make! And I can’t say enough wonderful things about their parents who can’t hide their love for these two pups.

Remy

My friend Remy has one of the sweetest personalities and an incredible family to go with it. I actually took Remy’s photos quite some time ago but it was a huge secret because Remy’s parents were surprised with a gorgeous photobook of Remy on Christmas morning. Surprises are my favorite… I love to hear about the owner’s reactions (I heard there might have been a tear or two shed…)

I am so excited to finally share all of his beautiful photos with everyone! He is a striking black lab with a silver face showing his years. Such a sweet old dog with a great heart who is loved very, very much!

travel bug… spain

The last, but certainly not least, post on my recent travel bug is Spain. While in Spain we visited Barcelona, Madrid, and took a short day trip to Segovia. All of the places we went were absolutely amazing! Amazing sights, amazing people, and amazing food! Really amazing food – I think we both gained 5 lbs each… oops

Sagrada Familia is an amazing cathedral in the heart of Barcelona that has been under construction for 129 years now. Construction began in 1882, and is still underway every day, seriously – we were walking past guys in hard hats! It is impossible to capture the scale of this building in photos – it is designed to feel like you are in a forest of trees. Too cool!!

We also took a day trip from Madrid to a small town in the mountains called Segovia. It’s main attraction is this amazing aqueduct, a huge cathedral and even a castle!!

One of my favorite mornings in Barcelona was a visit to their most famous street market: La Boqueria. I have never seen anything like it. Tons of fruits, vegetable, candies, nuts, chocolates, fish, cheese, the list goes on and on! It was a photographer’s heaven. Each morning the vendors come out early and set up their goods in the most beautiful ways. You can really tell that they take pride in their products! And boy was it good – we walked around sampling and photographing all morning!

travel bug… european puppies

Now, just because a pet photographer goes on vacation doesn’t mean that they have the ability, or should I say strength, to stay away from those sweet puppy dogs – no matter what language they might be speaking! I just couldn’t resist the urge to photograph these few furry friends along the way, some from France as well as some from Spain. It’s so strange that no matter what country you are from you can see a pet owners pride in their own pup. As I photographed each pet I could see their owner’s beaming with a smile from ear to ear! I couldn’t ask for a better “job”

travel bug… Versailles

If you are ever in Paris, one thing you must not miss is a day trip to the Palace of Versailles! My husband and I decided to be adventurous and take a bicycle tour of Versailles – it was absolutely amazing… not counting the 3 minor crashes I had. Getting on a bike for the fist time in 8 years in the middle of Paris might not have been the best idea. But I am so extremely glad we stuck with it. Once we arrived in Versailles (by train with bikes in tow) we rode through the gardens surrounding the palace, which covers 80,000 acres!! Since we were on bikes we were able to see parts of the garden that would have taken forever to get to on foot! They even had sheep roaming the fields. It was a little overcast but it made for some dramatic photos. Once we finished our tour of the gardens we went into the palace itself. The interior is covered with gold leaf and ornate decorations fit for a king… or a queen!

My husband and I definitely have what I would call a severe case of the travel bug! We both love to travel so when the opportunity came up for us to go to Europe this past November we jumped. We spent some time in France as well as Spain and of course I had my camera in tow. It’s taken me a while to sift through the thousands of photos I took, but I finally got it narrowed down and can’t wait to share with you!

While in France we spent some time in Paris, where the food, the sights, and the blue skies were amazing! As well as some time in Lyon – which was a slower paced visit for us to refuel before jumping into Spain. And yes for those of you who have seen my post from our honeymoon – I once again, as a pet photographer, couldn’t resist photographing those French and Spanish dogs! That post is soon to follow

And as for my sweet tooth, it was well taken care of! We first started with some of the most famous macaroons in Paris – from a shop called Laduree. I just love the little box they came in but I wouldn’t dare tell you how much these 8 little cookies cost – but boy were they worth every penny! And below that is the official sweet of Lyon – they are made to look like little pillows or cushions (the story behind them is pretty cool - Coussins). I am so in love with the colors!!

I had the pleasure of meeting the Hamilton family out at White Rock Lake in Dallas to capture their family only a few weeks before it would be changed forever. Changed with the arrival of a beautiful baby girl… non fur-baby that is! This was my first ever Family/dog/couple/maternity session and it was a blast. Now that could have been due to the fact that we had incredible weather, two hillarious pups (Pete & Toby), and a great soon to be mom and dad.

The best part of all – they welcomed baby Adrian right after Christmas and this Friday I am headed to their home to photograph a beautiful newborn baby girl. I can’t WAIT! This will be my first newborn girl to photograph so there will be some pink and of course some sugar and spice and everything nice

I like to imagine that these are the faces Pete (the yellow lab) & Toby (the schnauzer) made when they found out they were going to have a little human in the house

I think this is one of my favorites. The sun was setting behind us, bouncing off the lake – literally creating a field of gold!

I am so excited to meet Little Adrian Friday and will post her newborn photos as soon as I can!
