Bella & Sophie

Bella & Sophie are two of the sweetest Chihuahua sister’s in Dallas. Bella, who is the older of the two at 7 years old, was my immediate friend… well I’m not exactly sure if she loved me or my pocket full of treats to be exact, but she turned out to be a natural in front of the camera. Her little sister, Sophie – who is 3 years old, needed a little more coaxing than my pocket full of treats. She wasn’t sure of my “huge” camera that was almost the same size as her! But after a few of my tricks she was ready for her close up as well. I had such a great time getting to know these two love bugs! I just love photographing Chihuahua’s (or Chihua-la’s as my 3 year old niece would say ) They have the best expressions!

That is Sophie on the left and Bella on the right. Gotta love those summer photo shoots with blue skies!

Best buds… One paw up and one paw down

I thought this was hysterical! Sophie has a “peep” hole in her fence where she can check on the neighbors dog. It is exactly the right height!

Murray & Lucy

Every now and then I am lucky enough to get to spend an afternoon with a gorgeous cat or two. And that is exactly what Murray and Lucy are for sure! Talk about a change of pace. Photographing two beautiful cats could not be more different than photographing two dogs. The first thing I always tell my cat clients is “The cat is in charge of this session.” Murray and Lucy were definitely in charge of their own session and it couldn’t have turned out better. They were a bit cautious at first, but with a little patience and some loving coaxing they eventually came out of their shells and showed me their curious personalities That is Murray on the left and Lucy on the right!

Remy

My friend Remy has one of the sweetest personalities and an incredible family to go with it. I actually took Remy’s photos quite some time ago but it was a huge secret because Remy’s parents were surprised with a gorgeous photobook of Remy on Christmas morning. Surprises are my favorite… I love to hear about the owner’s reactions (I heard there might have been a tear or two shed…)

I am so excited to finally share all of his beautiful photos with everyone! He is a striking black lab with a silver face showing his years. Such a sweet old dog with a great heart who is loved very, very much!

I am so lucky to have such a beautiful niece, Ansley. She has become a bit of my muse – which I think she’s okay with because it means she gets to go on “adventures” with Aunt Alli.

Ansley loves to sing “Five Little Monkeys” and also loves the line of books by Eileen Christelow: Five Little Monkeys. She was so excited when her mom and I gave her permission to jump on the bed. These photos remind me how fun it is to be a kid!

Check out my new digs! For those of you who come to my blog often you might have noticed it being “under construction” Well, Ta-Da, here it is. The new and improved blue mutt blog. I would love to hear what you think. Likes, dislikes… typos I can use all the help I can get in that area. Spelling has never been my “thing” but that’s okay because I love the fact that photography is my “thing.”

Lots of new post coming soon! I made a trip down to Houston to visit family, I always travel with my camera which is a good thing – because I ended up doing 5 different sessions in 3 days… whew!

Meet the sweetest chocolate lab in Dallas - Liberty Belle, or Libby for short. Brought home on the Fourth of July, a patriotic name was only too fitting! Libby is actually 12 years old, but you would never guess it as she is so full of love and energy – I could still see some puppy in her eyes. Libby’s photo shoot was a Father’s Day gift for her Dad. They have been best friends for 12 years… a fantastic pair Sadly, Libby recently tore her ACL and the vet says that surgery is not the answer for this sweet gal. Libby’s family loves her so much and they are doing everything they can to keep Libby young at heart!

Messieur Teddy

All poodles are French… right? I fell in love with this little guy. And he loved his mom – he would do anything she said. Something I have never seen before: she trained Teddy that if they were in the front yard and she said “car” – teddy would freeze, sit down and wait for the car to pass by. Pretty smart little guy! Blue Mutt made a special trip down to Houston for this photo shoot. The day started with rain but by the time I got there the sky was one of the bluest I’ve seen in a while. Such a beautiful day! Such a sweet little boy!

Blue Mutt’s day at Camp Bow Wow

Mr. Blue Mutt loves the days when he gets to attend his favorite doggie daycare, Camp Bow Wow. I also love Camp Bow Wow because they take such great care of Willie when we’re out of town or whenever he’s too frisky and we’re too busy! Well, the folks at CBW wanted to do something special for Valentine’s Day and they wanted to support one of their favorite charities, Animal Rescue of Texas (ART), and I was lucky enough to have been a part of it. They asked me to take some Valentine’s Day photos for their clients, the proceeds of which went towards the charity. It was so much fun to meet so many new dogs (Willie’s playmates, I’m sure!). There were dogs in all shapes and sizes and different personalities abound - some loved the camera, some, well, not so much. But we had a great time and the owners of these furry friends got to go home with a memory of this years Valentine’s day and help out a good cause!

Who could ever say no to this puppy face? Willie, Mr. Blue Mutt, is the best dog ever! I might be a little biased, though…

I love my job as a pet photographer because this is my co-worker!
