More Meows on Blue Mutt!

I was so excited to hear that my friend Blair, and her husband, who have been in the market for a new home – finally ended their long search… because they ended it in MY neighborhood here in Dallas. I couldn’t be more happy to have a great friend so close and as a new neighbor. My excitement reached a new level when she called me to let me know they had adopted a teeny-tiny little kitten. I ran over to snap a few photos of their cat as a housewarming gift and a great blog post!

Meet Honey, the sweetest little kitten in my neighborhood. She was a natural at getting her photo taken, but I did get a good laugh when her Dad asked me if – as a pet photographer – I knew how to talk to animals since she was behaving so well.

Another special fact about Honey (full name Honey-Mustard) is that somewhere out there, maybe not even born yet, she has a brother on the way! Her parents are looking to adopt a sheepdog, who already has a name… Ketchup! I’m sure that Honey-Mustard and Ketchup will be fast friends! Welcome to the neighborhood :)

travel bug… spain

The last, but certainly not least, post on my recent travel bug is Spain. While in Spain we visited Barcelona, Madrid, and took a short day trip to Segovia. All of the places we went were absolutely amazing! Amazing sights, amazing people, and amazing food! Really amazing food – I think we both gained 5 lbs each… oops 😉

Sagrada Familia is an amazing cathedral in the heart of Barcelona that has been under construction for 129 years now. Construction began in 1882, and is still underway every day, seriously – we were walking past guys in hard hats! It is impossible to capture the scale of this building in photos – it is designed to feel like you are in a forest of trees. Too cool!!

We also took a day trip from Madrid to a small town in the mountains called Segovia. It’s main attraction is this amazing aqueduct, a huge cathedral and even a castle!!

One of my favorite mornings in Barcelona was a visit to their most famous street market: La Boqueria. I have never seen anything like it. Tons of fruits, vegetable, candies, nuts, chocolates, fish, cheese, the list goes on and on! It was a photographer’s heaven. Each morning the vendors come out early and set up their goods in the most beautiful ways. You can really tell that they take pride in their products! And boy was it good – we walked around sampling and photographing all morning!

tail wag and a middle name

Layla has come miles from that shy little puppy we adopted a few weeks ago. Her best friend in the entire world is her big brother Willie, who has shown Layla the ropes around here. In fact she follows him everywhere, sleeps when he sleeps, plays when he plays, and eats when he eats. Their favorite game right now is tug-of-war! Willie is such a sweet boy because he even let’s Layla win every now and then 😉

We have also decided on a middle name for our little girl. Drum roll please…….. Layla Ruth Cameron. Why Ruth? Well the best response for her middle name I received on the post Little Layla was actually: Chocolate Caramel Brownie! Which made me laugh pretty hard :) Of course we couldn’t really name her that – but I do agree that she looks like chocolate and caramel. So to stay with the theme of Goonies*, we chose Baby Ruth (the star candy bar in the movie). Thank you for all of your creative suggestions!

* Willie is actually named after The Goonies “One Eyed Willie.” The pirate who’s treasure they are searching for. I know we are dorks but we do love our 80’s movies!
