Scout & Casper

Scout and Casper are two super laid back brothers who I first met at my favorite Dallas Doggie Daycare: Camp Bow Wow. I actually photographed Scout during our Valentines Day Photos last year!

I was so excited to see him again and meet his brother Casper, with his beautiful blue eyes! Scout is the older of the two at 10 years old, but you would never know it – aside from the presence of his white eyebrows(so cute). You can even see a difference in his “aging” from February 2009 (above) to today. He is a “happy-go-lucky” guy, who really loves his Dad… and chasing squirrels. Casper, on the other hand, is only 2 and 1/2 years old – and very careful and shy. He is named Casper for a couple different reasons. First of all he is super friendly – lots of love for everyone around (that is once he knows you’re a dog lover) but holds a special place in his heart for his Mom. He also likes to hide and peak around corners to see what’s going on before joining in the fun. Also, you can never overlook his beautiful ice-blue eyes!

I love these two photos together. If I had to caption them… 1. Awe, mmmoooom – why do you have to embarrass me all the time. 2. Okay, I love you too and give kisses now! You embarrassed? (okay so I’m no comedian – check out I Has a Hot Dog for some real laughs!)

Action time – I wanted to highlight the ball that Casper is about to snag out of the air, can you find it? I just love Scouts face in his action shot – very determined!

I’m so happy I caught this candid moment of their little family.

The Odd yet Adorable Couple

I could help but giggle when Bailey and Rooney came bursting out the front door to greet me for their photo shoot. It never ceases to amaze me how dogs are just full of love for everyone and everything around them. Bailey, a West Highland Terrier, measures in at an astounding 12″ tall, while Rooney, a lovable Labradoodle, is a modest 36″!! Bailey can walk right under Rooney and he wouldn’t even notice. However, they are inseperable – best buds. I’m sure you can figure out who’s the goofball of the pair… Rooney. While Bailey was a very sophisticated little lady!

Time for a nap!

The Armstrong Family

The Armstrong family is a dream come true – a real life Brady bunch – but with pups not kiddos. A beautiful ranch – him with 4 pups and her with two are now one big happy family! Oh, and did I mention a cat who thinks he’s a dog?? There’s Ethal – the terrier, and the oldest of the bunch. Dolly, Oldie, and Scardy Cat – all Blue Heelers. Louis Vuitton – a toy terrier. Prada – a Cocker Spaniel/Lhasa Apso mix. And last but not least Leroy – the orange cat.

With the best weather in weeks, and an increadible backdrop we had so much fun just playing. It was too cute how all of the “kiddos” got along despite their different sizes and personalities. With this many models this will also be a two part post

Oliver & Owen

Now, I know I love pugs and I know I love beagles… so when I heard about Oliver & Owen who are puggles I was so excited to meet them. Oliver & Owen are actually brothers – their parents only set out to get one puppy, but when they saw these two they couldn’t choose just one… I don’t blame them! Even though they look alike they have personalities of their own. Owen is on the left and Oliver on the right – they are both full of love, kisses, and tail wags. They also have a sister cat named Chloe, who is the queen of the upstairs. She’s pretty shy but we were able to get a few photos of her as well.

Owen had just learned how to “roll-over” so he was proud to show the whole family his trick!

I would say these two are pretty much inseparable :)

Fall Photos = FUN

Blue Mutt Photography paired up with Camp Bow Wow of Dallas to set up a Halloween/Fall photo shoot and raise money for pups in need at the same time. We had some great costumes and some great smiles. I love my job! Let me know which one is your favorite

Gustopher

Meet Gustopher, Gus for short, a beautiful Lab mix with a kind heart and a happy go lucky disposition. We had a great time playing out at White Rock Lake enjoying the beautiful weather. I’ve never met a pup quite like Gus – he’s very tall, and fluffy, with a lab’s face – he can jump up to 6 feet in the air… yes his mom and dad have actually measured. It is a sight to see! He is extremely handsome but still has a goofball side to him that I love!

I think the tall grass was tickling him, so he started rubbing his face on it… too funny.

Emmy & Lilly

Emmy and Lilly are such a funny pair, both black cocker spaniels with very different personalities but love each other so much! According to their mom: Emmy is the serious girl and Lilly is the crazy girl. Emmy is “book wise” and Lilly is “street wise” – Love it! We had so much fun photographing these two in Addison Circle, just north of Dallas. We also had an incredibly beautiful day, perfect for two special pups and one lucky dog photographer!

I gave you guys a quick look at Lilly in the previous post and I’ve had a ton of questions… “what is she doing?” Ta-da – she was crunching down on some acorns, one of her favorite things to do. But don’t worry we took it away from her just as soon as she cracked it open, you can see her expression in the second photo…

And here is the beautiful Miss Emmy – she is 13 years old and has been her Mom’s best friends for many, many years. You can see the love they have for each other.

Even though Emmy is 13 and has had back surgery she still has a ton of pep in her step – I think Lilly keeps her young and on her toes! Check out that smile!

Lilly is 3.5 years old, but she still looks like a puppy – she’s the perpetual puppy, how fun is that?

I loved this bench and brick wall – I think the girls did too.

At the end of the session Emmy was ready for a nap, but Lilly wasn’t quite done looking at squirrels out the window.

Bevo’s Party

Who’s Bevo?? He’s only the greatest mascot in the entire world!! The mascot for my alma mater – The University of Texas. As many of you know Bevo likes to party on Football weekends & especially on TX-OU weekend! I was jumping for joy when I was invited to photograph Bevo at a party here in Dallas. Can you believe those horns? He does a great job of balancing them and thank goodness his handlers did a great job of keeping them away from me the party goers!

A few of my favorite things…

Every now and then I like to go back through some of my past photo shoots and take a second look at their galleries. Things can look completely different once some time has passed. One thing I love to do is convert some of my favorite photos into black & white, and see them in a totally new light. I also love going back through the galleries because I get to remember each pup that I’ve had the privilege to get to know as a pet photographer. They really do each have a personality of their very own – and I can only hope to capture that in their photos. I hope you enjoy this Black & White look back!
