Wishes for a Wonderful New Year!

Happy New Year!

I snapped this photos on a recent trip to The Dallas Arboretum in November, I love the colors and it makes me hopeful for the New Year and the arrival of Spring. I am lucky enough to live in a city that doesn’t have much of a winter, however this Thursday the high is only 30 degrees and it is BIG news! Sorry all you guys up North, but just give me a call in the summer when we hit 110!!

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful 2010

By the way – I’ve named this little guy charlie… my nephew insists that every animal no matter how big or small they may be actually has a name. So I am constantly naming bugs and critters, birds and frogs . I’ve actually become very good at it to tell you the truth.

Walk, Wag, Run!!

This past Saturday I was invited to be the official dog photographer for the yearly event: Walk, Wag, and Run. What an incredible event! 5k and 10k races, dog agility walk, pet adoptions, costume contests, and so much more. The event is organized by the Lakewood Service League - and they did an amazing job! Not only were there 100′s of people but also 100′s of dogs in all shapes and sizes!

Emmy & Lilly

Emmy and Lilly are such a funny pair, both black cocker spaniels with very different personalities but love each other so much! According to their mom: Emmy is the serious girl and Lilly is the crazy girl. Emmy is “book wise” and Lilly is “street wise” – Love it! We had so much fun photographing these two in Addison Circle, just north of Dallas. We also had an incredibly beautiful day, perfect for two special pups and one lucky dog photographer!

I gave you guys a quick look at Lilly in the previous post and I’ve had a ton of questions… “what is she doing?” Ta-da – she was crunching down on some acorns, one of her favorite things to do. But don’t worry we took it away from her just as soon as she cracked it open, you can see her expression in the second photo…

And here is the beautiful Miss Emmy – she is 13 years old and has been her Mom’s best friends for many, many years. You can see the love they have for each other.

Even though Emmy is 13 and has had back surgery she still has a ton of pep in her step – I think Lilly keeps her young and on her toes! Check out that smile!

Lilly is 3.5 years old, but she still looks like a puppy – she’s the perpetual puppy, how fun is that?

I loved this bench and brick wall – I think the girls did too.

At the end of the session Emmy was ready for a nap, but Lilly wasn’t quite done looking at squirrels out the window.

Every now and then I like to go back through some of my past photo shoots and take a second look at their galleries. Things can look completely different once some time has passed. One thing I love to do is convert some of my favorite photos into black & white, and see them in a totally new light. I also love going back through the galleries because I get to remember each pup that I’ve had the privilege to get to know as a pet photographer. They really do each have a personality of their very own – and I can only hope to capture that in their photos. I hope you enjoy this Black & White look back!

Messieur Teddy

All poodles are French… right? I fell in love with this little guy. And he loved his mom – he would do anything she said. Something I have never seen before: she trained Teddy that if they were in the front yard and she said “car” – teddy would freeze, sit down and wait for the car to pass by. Pretty smart little guy! Blue Mutt made a special trip down to Houston for this photo shoot. The day started with rain but by the time I got there the sky was one of the bluest I’ve seen in a while. Such a beautiful day! Such a sweet little boy!

More Nena & Pepe

I wanted to share more photos from my session with Nena & Pepe. Now, I am generally not the “dress up your dog” type… but this was for a good cause – A wedding! These pup’s parents are getting married soon in Puerto Rico. They really wanted Nena & Pepe to be a part of their big day, so we took some great photographs of them to incorporate into their wedding details. I couldn’t pass this up because I know how important it is! Great minds think alike: Mr. Blue Mutt.

Laguna My Love

I’ve been dying to post photos from my photo shoot with beautiful Laguna – but we were part of a covert mission for a surprise gift. A wedding gift! But now since the knot has been tied, and the cat’s out of the bag I can finally share Laguna with you.

Miss Laguna is a 4 year old black lab who loves life. Happy to meet everyone. Greeting me with hugs and kisses she won my heart over pretty fast!
